Making naans is not that difficult. Try making it with this recipe.
Flour 2 ½-3 cups
Dry active yeast 2 teaspoons
Sugar 1 teaspoon
Salt ½ teaspoon
Water ½ cup
Olive oil ¼ cup
Plain yogurt 1/3
Egg 1 large
Combine yeast, sugar, and water in a bowl. Stir to dissolve and let sit till its frothy on top.
Now whisk oil, yogurt, and egg in it. Combine all of them.
Now take another bowl and add 1 cup of flour with salt.
Pour the wet mixture into flour. Stir till combined.
Continue adding flour half a cup at a time and keep stirring.
Follow the procedure till it cannot be stirred with a spoon. (1 to 1.5 cups later)
Now make a dough ball and knead it for 3 minutes.
Keep adding flour to keep it from sticking. (2 ½-3 cups total)
The dough must be smooth and soft but not sticky.
Cover it loosely and let it rise for 1 hour so it is doubled in size.
After an hour flatten the dough into a disc and cut 8 equal pieces.
Shape these pieces into small balls.
Heat heavy bottom skillet over medium heat.
Roll out the ball until its 6 inches in diameter approximately.
Place it in the skillet and cook until large bubbles are formed on the surface and bottom is golden brown.
Flip it and cook until another side is also golden brown.
Repeat the procedure for all eight dough balls.
Serve the naans plain or brush them with melted butter and sprinkle herbs.
